Caprivi - Namibia

The Caprivi Strip — now officially the Zambezi Region — contains 23 campsites along Namibia's narrow northeastern corridor, bordered by Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Perennial rivers, floodplains, and wildlife corridors make it feel entirely unlike the rest of Namibia, with Mudumu and Bwabwata national parks offering bush camping at the meeting point of four countries.

East Central Region - Namibia

East Central Region has 10 campsites spread across the Kalahari basin between Windhoek and the Botswana border. Characterised by red sand dunes, acacia bush, and emerging community conservancies, it is an off-the-beaten-track region that sees far fewer visitors than Namibia's coastal and northern circuits — ideal for those seeking solitude close to the capital.

Etosha - Namibia

Etosha Region's campsites sit inside Etosha National Park, one of Africa's premier wildlife destinations centred on a vast salt pan visible from space. The three main rest camps — Okaukuejo, Halali, and Namutoni — each have floodlit waterholes where lion, elephant, rhino, and giraffe converge nightly. Book at least six months ahead for any Etosha camp.

North Central Region - Namibia

Namibia's North Central Region has 42 campsites in the country's most populated area, serving primarily as a gateway to Etosha's northern gates and the oshana wetland floodplains of former Ovamboland. Most travellers overnight here en route between Etosha and the Caprivi Strip, or when crossing to and from the Angolan border.

North Eastern Region - Namibia

The North Eastern Region (Kavango) offers 26 campsites along the perennial Okavango River and inside Bwabwata and Khaudum National Parks. Mahango Game Reserve is one of Namibia's most underrated wildlife destinations, with outstanding birding and riverfront camping that contrasts sharply with the rest of Namibia's desert character.

North Western Region - Namibia

The North Western Region (Kunene) offers 47 campsites in Namibia's most remote terrain — the Kaokoveld desert wilderness, Epupa Falls on the Angolan border, Himba cultural areas, and the northern Skeleton Coast. Self-sufficiency is essential: carry extra fuel, water, and recovery gear. The rewards are true solitude and some of Africa's last undisturbed wilderness camping.

Southern Region - Namibia

Namibia's Southern Region contains 90 campsites and some of the continent's most dramatic scenery: the towering red dunes of Sossusvlei, the ancient Deadvlei clay pan, the 160km Fish River Canyon, and the Orange River border corridor. Sesriem campsite and NamibRand Reserve are among the most sought-after bookings in southern Africa — reserve several months ahead.

West Central Region - Namibia

The West Central Region has 72 campsites and encompasses Namibia's most scenically varied terrain — the red granite inselbergs of Spitzkoppe, Twyfelfontein's UNESCO rock art, Damaraland's desert-adapted elephants, and the coastal town of Swakopmund. Camping in the Erongo Mountains under a star canopy is among the finest wilderness experiences in the country.
